In general, any time I say "coupon" or "mfr" in my shopping trip posts, it can refer to either a paper coupon clipped from a newspaper or an internet printed coupon. "mfr" is short for "manufacturer coupon", which is different from a store coupon.
"wyb" means "when you buy" and is usually used when you have to buy several different items to use a the coupon
"OOP" means "out of pocket" and is the amount I have to get out of my wallet at the end of the trip. Often, OOP costs will be more than the net cost, since store rewards like Extra Bucks do not come off the total but must be used on a future transaction.
Here is a guide to the different types of coupons and savings programs I use, sorted by store.
CVS
In order to get the sale prices, you need an Extra Care card.
EB = Extra Bucks that print on the register receipt for use on a future purchase. These are just like having coupons for dollars off that can be used only at CVS. I use the EB from the previous week to lower the amount I pay out of pocket.
Kiosk = Coupons obtained by scanning my Extra Care card at the in-store kiosk. These can only be used at CVS.
CVS Coupon = Printable coupon that can only be redeemed at CVS.
Beauty Club = Extra savings available only to CVS Beauty Club members.
Rite Aid
In order to get the sale prices, you need a Wellness+ card.
UP = UP Rewards that print on the register receipt for use on a future purchase. These are just like having coupons for dollars off that can be used only at Rite Aid. I use the UP from the previous week to lower the amount I pay out of pocket.
VV = Printable Rite Aid Video Values coupons, obtained by watching videos about the products. These can only be used at Rite Aid.
SCR = Single Check Rebate in the form of a check in the mail.
Walgreens
No store card is needed to get sale prices or Register Rewards.
RR = Register Rewards that print on the register receipt for use on a future purchase. These are just like having coupons for dollars off that can be used only at Walgreens.
Store coupon = EITHER a coupon from the monthly coupon booklet OR a coupon from the weekly store flyer that allows you to get up to the stated limit (usually 2-4) of that product at the discounted price. Both types of these can only be used at Walgreens.
Target
Target coupon = Printable coupon that can be redeemed only at Target.
Staples
Rewards = Printable coupon obtained by recycling empty ink cartridges at Staples stores.
